About Steve Morris


Cutthroat Fly Fishing is dedicated to your fishing pleasure. Steve Morris has worked as a guide for Los Rios Anglers for the past eight years. Since Los Rios Anglers closed in October, 2007 he has taken up his own guide and outfitting service.  He has lived and fished in Northern New Mexico and the Taos area for over 30 years. A life long fly fisherman he caught his first trout on a fly rod on the upper Rio Grande River at Wagon Wheel Gap Colorado over 40 years ago. He guided on over 100 fly fishing trips in 2007. His fishing experience, familiarity with the rivers, and innate sense of hospitality guarantees a fun and productive outing.

About Our Waters

We have a wonderful habitat for the fly fisherman. With high alpine terrain creating mountain runoff from springs and melting snow, Taos boasts  
several fine trout streams including the Rio Grande, Red River, Rio Costilla, Cimarron, Tres Ritos, Los Pinos and the Rio Hondo. This abundance of streams allows us to fish most of the year and offers a wide variety of conditions and topography to suite any level of expertise from beginner to expert.


About Our Service

We offer full service guide trips and can provide all equipment necessary to fish in Taos. Instruction and guiding are designed to make fishing our waters as fun and easy as possible. Private ponds are available at an extra charge. Full day trips include a stream side lunch. All trips are wading only as navigation on our streams is limited.
